Hibiscus juice

     Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a bushy, evergreen shrub or small tree growing 2.5–5 m (8–16 ft) tall and 1.5–3 m (5–10 ft) wide. Its leaves are simple and petiolate. The leaf shape is ovate, the tip is acute, and the margin is serrated.

     Its flowers bloom in summer and autumn. They are solitary (axillary) and symmetrical. They are typically red, with five petals 10 cm (4 in) in diameter, with prominent orange-tipped red anthers. Cultivars and hybrids have flowers in a variety of colors  red,white, pink, orange, peach, yellow, blue, and purple.

     Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, known colloquially as Chinese hibiscus. Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. They are native to warm temperate and tropical regions. Several are cultivated as ornamentals for their showy flowers.

     The flowers of hibiscus have multiple uses.It is used as edible item in salads, juices etc. It is also a good hair conditioner as well as a skin toner.

Hibiscus juice is used by  many health conscious people as a health drink to stay active in an organic way.

Hibiscus can improve heart health. Researchers point to anthocyanins as the compounds which act as antioxidants and protect heart. Anthocyanins give fruits, flowers, vegetables their red, blue, and purple colors. Hibiscus helps in lowering  total blood cholesterol.

Studies show that various species of hibiscus can lower blood pressure.

 The flower contains nutrients vitamin C,B2 and minerals like calcium, phosphorous, iron,niacin.

 

How to Make Hibiscus Juice

 Step1  Boil the hibiscus flower in water till the water become red in colour. Add some ginger slices to it.

Step2 Turn off the stove and keep aside for an hour.

Step 3 Strain the water, add honey a little, salt, lemon juice and chilled water/ ice cubes and serve.
