Helonius Dioica

Common name- unicorn plant

Melanthaceaae family

   It is a plant used in traditional medicine, particularly in homeopathic medicine for management of ailments related to female reproductive tract and conception, miscarriage etc.

In homeopathy helonius is indicated for weakness after mental and physical labour. It is also prescribed for uterine atony following miscarriage, abortion.

Weakness following early, profuse menstruation. excessive bleeding . Breast pain,tenderness of nipples.

Sensation of soreness and heaviness of pelvis;uterus feels moving while the woman moves.

Threatened abortion, habitual abortion

Weakness with drowsiness; unusually tired, without any known reason.

Anaemia from blood loss.

Loss of sexual desire in women with or without sterility;

Uterine prolapse from atony.

Feels better when occupied. Thinking aggravates complaints;

In homeopathic practice, helonius is used for managing diabetes also. Urine frequency increased, polyurea, dry lips, polydipsia or increased thirst.

Dribbling urination, incomplete sensation.

Back –burning and heat between lower half of scapulae;

Weakness and aching of lumbar region. Pain about upper part of sacrum and pelvis;

Mental state:

Melancholy, depression, irritability. Fault finding; censorious

cannot tolerate contradiction as well as suggestions. Contradiction arouses anger.

Restlessness of mind; must walk or move about to reduce it.

Dullness and sluggishness of mind; weakness of memory.

General aggravation: thinking
