Lycopodium - homeopathic medicine

Constitution of Lycopodium

Intellectually keen, physically weak people with emaciation of upper part of the body and semi dropsical lower parts. pale ,sallow unhealthy skin with deep furrows

Lycopodium is adapted to people who are more prone to liver and lung problems during childhood and old age.

A right sided  deep acting  trimiasmatic remedy,  more preferably for chronic ailments arising from various causes including fright, anger, mortification or vexation with reserved displeasure.

Clinical indications

Gastric ailments

Flatulence particularly of lower abdomen.

Fermentation of the whole food eaten. Easy satiety. Grumbling in lower abdomen. Sensation of something moving up and down in the stomach.

Incarcerated flatulence. Flatulence pushes on rectum and bladder.

Flatulent colic of children.

Sour eructation, heartburn, waterbrash, sour vomiting; canine hunger with great desire for food even after eating.

Great sensitiveness in liver region. 

Urinary complaints

Right sided renal colic, red sand in urine. Back pain relieved by urinating.

Sexual complaints

Impotence of young men. erectile dysfunction after sexual excess or onanism; premature ejaculations.

Old men with increased desire but imperfect erections.

In females dryness of vagina, dyspareunia, burning sensation during and after coition.

Early and profuse menses.

Flatus in vagina

Hernia

Right sided hernia in children.

Lung &respiratory affections

Pneumonia base of right lung; maltreated or neglected cases.

Lycopodium helps absorption of pus or in expectoration.

Periodic attack of spasmodic asthma. despondency, melancholy.

 Cough occurs most often at  4-8pm.Dry teasing cough in emaciated boys.

Paralysis

Paralysis of with heaviness of arm.

Right hand paralysis with burning and difficulty in grasping.

Eyes

Inflammation of eyes with dryness, smarting and burning, swelling.

Styes on internal canthus.

Myopia, presbyopia

Throat

Constriction sensation, swelling and suppuration of tonsils,

Right side affected first and later infection spreads to left.

Hair fall with crusty scalp eruption

General characteristics

· Right sided affections. Complaints migrate from right side to left.

· Aggravation of complaints from 4-8pm

· Ailments from fright, anger, mortification.

· Canine hunger; the more one eat ,the more cravings for food. Headache occurs from not eating.

· Excessive accumulation of flatulence. gastric ailments with easy satiety. Fermentation of whole food eaten, flatulence particularly of lower abdomen[ upper- carbo veg, whole abdomen-cinchona].

· Constipation since puberty. Also constipation in infants.

· Right sided renal colic. Right sided hernia

· One foot feel hot and other cold

· Waking at night feeling hungry

· Fan like movement of alae nasae

· Aggravation of complaints- evening,4-8pm.

· Amelioration-warm food and drinks. From uncovering the head.

Mental characteristics

· Irritable temperament, least contradiction is unbearable.

· Peevish cross children.

· Women are irritable as well as lachrymose. weeps when thanked. Sensitive mind.

· Melancholy and irritability with dread of solitude ,men and fearful of being alone. But prefers presence  of people around at some distance.

· Greedy, avaricious

· malicious

· Lack of self confidence

· Parental overcontrol or dominance may cause shyness and timidity in children.

· Anticipatory anxiety is prominent in lycopodium.

· Agoraphobia.

· Fear of places, situations. Panic attacks.

· Fear of social rejection and therefore attempt to please others.

· Competitive, manipulative and diplomatic

· Taking responsibility scares lycopodium

· Lycopodium man is domineering, controlling and weak internally. He wants unconditional love ,but  wants everybody to obey him. 

Drug relationship

complementary- iodine

follows well after- calcarean carb,Lachesis,sulphur.
